Medication Aide Course - 8 HOURS!

Course Description

 

State approved Medication Aide HYBRID Course: 

 

Option 1:   Remote and In Person at ACI - ACI administers skills check off and State Exam - Remote 8-hour class. Skills check off completed at ACI consisting of 8 hours (two, 4-hour days).  The Remote portion of the course must be completed prior to attending in person dates.  Dates must be entered at the time of enrollment on the application.  Upon completion of online/skills check off, students will be eligible to take the computer-based standardized written state competency exam.  State exam fee of $25 to be paid electronically prior to class via debit or credit card.  The exam is administered at ACI on the last day of class.  Upon registration of the course, you will receive a confirmation email and provided two test date options.  

 

Option 2:   Remote and In Person at Approved Facility  -  Approved healthcare facility administers skills check off and State Exam  – Remote 8-hour class.  Students must be employed at an approved healthcare facility where skills must be checked off by a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant. The computer-based standardized written competency exam also must be administered at the same facility. The online portion of the program must be successfully completed prior to skills check off at an approved facility.

 

Our Medication Aide program will teach all aspects relating to this growing field.  Areas of study will include but are not limited to pharmacology, routes of medication administration, safe administration storage and disposal of medications, infection control, documentation, ethics, and the legal aspects of health care. Students gain hands-on experience in safely administering medications through various routes (ex: oral, eye, ear, nasal) and assisting patients in self-administration of select medications.

Upon completion of the Medication Aide Class, students will be eligible to take the State Certification Exam thru Georgia Medical Care Foundation

Course Requirements

Due prior to start of class:

  • 18 years of age
  • Government Issued Photo ID
  • ACTIVE Georgia CNA Certification with no findings of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation

 

Must bring to class:

  • BP/Stetescope
